Biopekárna Zemanka: How to create a world without waste in the food industry
The vision of the Organic Bakery Zemanka is a world in which business is conducted with respect for natural resources, people and at the same time economically successful. Waste minimization clearly belongs to such a world, which is why the company is developing two major projects with these goals: packaging-free sales and circular baking. The aim of the projects is to minimize the creation of waste in packaging materials and in food. Thanks to the packaging-free dispensers, the company saves several kilograms of paper and plastic every year, which are normally used to package their biscuits and crackers. As part of the so-called circular food industry, they can process roughly a ton of high-quality and nutritious raw materials per year, for which there was no use yet. The Organic Bakery Zemanka’s goal is to continue to expand the given projects – it offers packaging-free systems to, for example, office operations. Company employees can simply buy a snack at the packaging-free vending machine and do not create any waste. In the area of circular food production, the company’s goal is to continue to expand the customer network so that the products reach the widest possible number of customers and the company can process a larger amount of raw materials that have not yet been used in production.
