Tomáš Cajthaml, Faculty of Science, Charles University
Prof. RNDr. Tomáš Cajthaml, Ph.D., DSc. studied analytical chemistry and, as part of his postgraduate studies, landscape and applied ecology at the Faculty of Science of Charles University. He is the director of the Institute for Environmental Studies of the same faculty, and he works at the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. He deals with toxicology, microbial biodegradation, and the analysis of organic pollutants and their fate in the environment and participates in the development of decontamination methods, especially those using microorganisms. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 publications in international scientific journals, several book chapters and patents. He is among the top two percent of the most-cited scientists in his field in the world.
